Original information:
In 1900, Mrs Mary Ellen Vincent was living at Jubilee Home, Woolston. Vincent was not Mary Ellen’s maiden name as there is no record of her on the passenger lists.

    Mary Ellen Vincent came out on the Cressy under the name of Mary Ellen ‘Whitmore’ Her actual name was Mary Ellen Burrell. She was accompanied by her step-father Mr John Whitmore and her mother Elizabeth together with Elizabeth [Betsy aged 5] and William [3years]. She was born in 1835 and married John Vincent in 1856, in Wesleyan Church Lyttleton. She died in the Jubilee home in June 1921.
