Emma Hewitts maiden name was Wood
She was born in Polesworth in 1833 and jumped her age up a bit for travel she was in fact only 17.
Her mother died when she was 1 and her father died when she was 9
Permission to marry underage was given by her uncle and she and Thomas were married on the 22 August 1850 just weeks before they left for NZ
