Original information:
Robert Cresswell (1840-1916) emigrated to Canterbury, aged 10, with his family (see G. Cresswell). Robert was a stockman and the first manager of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company. Records show that in 1900 Robert was living in Styx.

Robert Marshall Cresswell 1840 – 1916, Robert was born at Marylebone, London, Middlesex, England, Robert died in Stratford, he is buried at Eltham Cemetery, Eltham.
He came to NZ with his parents Thomas Richard Marshall Cresswell & Jemima Taylor on the “Sir George Seymour”.
In 1862 he married Elizabeth Pattrick, who came to NZ in 1850 on the “Cressy” with her parents, Joseph Pattrick and Alice Laughton. Robert and Elizabeth had 14 children.

Walter Joseph Cresswell 1864 – 1950, married in 1891 to Hannah Reese 1872 – 1945 (daughter of John Reese and Eliza Ann Meddings).
Alice Jemima Cresswell 1866 – 1940, married in 1896 to Xavier Jones 1865 – 1920 (son of Edmund Jones and Rebecca Fletcher).
Thomas Richard Cresswell 1868 – 1944. married in 1896 to Sarah Ann Reese 1868 – 1940 (daughter of John Reese and Eliza Ann Meddings).
Jessie Cresswell 1870 – 1946 (Jessie was the twin of Frank).
Frank Cresswell 1870 – 1871 (Frank was the twin of Jessie).

Mary Gertrude Cresswell 1873 – 1940, married 1st in 1894 Matthew Arlow Ferguson 1869 – 1906 (son of Richard Ferguson and Elizabeth Arlow), married 2nd in 1909 to John Philip Heggie 1886 – 1963 (son of John Philip Heggie and Helen Carins).

Leonard Taylor Cresswell 1880 – 1946, married in 1903 to Flora Isobel Free 1879 – 1943 (daughter of Robert Rice Free and Flora Thomson).
