George Septimus Phillips (1844-1920) was six when he moved to Canterbury with his parents Henry (1805-1877) and Mary Ann, and his siblings Frederick, Henry (18), James (1837-1875), Charles (10), Thomas (1844-1931) and William (1846-1901).
In 1852, Henry Sen. took up Rockwood Station. George bought land near Dunsandel and later at Templeton; James managed Stronechrubie; Thomas managed The Point; and William leased Quail Island.In 1900, George apparently lived in Templeton, William in Hawera and Thomas in Windwhistle.
