(See Enoch Smart.) Edmund Smart also became a farmer. He married his first wife, Sarah Jane Cox, on November 3, 1853, at St Michael’s Church in Christchurch. She came from Hardingstone in Northhampton. They had six children.
Edmund’s second wife was Frances “Fanny” Meek, mother of his brother Emon’s wife. They married on August 6, 1873. There were no children from this marriage.
